Hey all ^^
Isfanor asked me earlier on today (okay so Monday; technically yesterday) whether I knew when Manifest 2007 was =P I told him I'd find out and post the info on the forums, lol so here goes (for anyone who doesn't know yet):
| http://www.manifest.org.au/condateven.php wrote: |
Since it's humble beginnings, Manifest has made its home in the University of Melbourne. Set in lush garden sceneries and classical style architecture, the university has a wide range of facilities that has enabled the organisers not only to bring to the fans of Manifest the things they are looking for in a convention, but also get it to them in the highest of quality. And so, once more Manifest will be held in the university.
Manifest will be held from the 14th to the 16th of September, with the AMARANTH Anime Ball kicking off on Thursday night, 13th of September. This effectively means the festival will be held on the four days. We hope that you could come, and be sure to pre-register! |
Prices to attend can be looked up here: http://www.manifest.org.au/regprices.php
Please note that these prices only apply to registrations received up until the 3rd of August (Saturday).
As can be seen, it's much more worth it to go as a syndicate (groups of ten or more people) and go for the whole weekend--which is basically the syndicate price ^^" --than go for just one day. No schedule for events have been fixed as of yet, but Chris has reassured us that most events will be different both days =P Besides, there will be interesting to see on both days anyway... so why give it a miss?
However---syndicate groups must elect a syndicate leader who will handle all correspondence with Manifest.
So.... Does anyone want to volunteer to be the syndicate leader and do all the planning (if this is an informal gathering to go), or will MCAC be officially organising a MANIFEST outing?
Replies are eagerly awaited ^^ |

Herm, still can't find information on cosplay in the Manifest's website. Have to wait. **eager**
Need a volunteer? I can recommend a person. She's best at doing stuff related to anime... YOU! |

OMFG... I'm already organising the lunches + 2 birthday 'surprise parties" for this month + 1 outing ....
can I say that I want to rest a little next sem instead of doing budgeting and planning? ^^"
great to see that you're DEFINITELY 100% going, though =D For me it kinda depends on whether my department at the fobs are doing anything around that time period since they're my first priority... but I'll try my best to keep those days free!
question... if I cosplay... what can I go as? =P I'm fresh out of brain cells and can't think... and I need an idea fast!!! |

Did you say cosplay?
How 'bout we all go as "Panty Man" aka "Hentai Kamen" ?
Anyway, i'll get Tam to re-enquire about tickets ASAP
I'll try to make an effort, however, should something unexpectedly important pops up... |

Hey, that's a good idea..!
But, I have a better one. How about you try and all of us watch how your skin turns blue and then freeze to death in that bloody cold winter...
(man... can't believe that guy has the guts to wear such thing. No wonder nobody came to take pictures with him. just he taking pictures of himself. ^^) |

If Tam fails and we don't get cheap tickets, I don't mind creating the syndicate. I think my friends want me to make one as well. So it'll be a nice extended MCAC thing and you guys can "check out" my friends. ;)
And yes, Saturday and Sunday are different, but if you're lacking funds or for some mysterious reason can only do the Saturday or the Sunday, I'd suggest going on the Saturday. There's more people, and because of that, all the main events are held on Saturday... i.e. cosplay. And there's usually more random stuff happening.
Sunday was more of an AMV day if I could remember. Contest results were also revealed. Less people, makes shopping easier. And I think a lot more of the panels were on then. (Panels are like information seminars about anime related things. i.e. fanfic, AMV's, manga drawing, etc.)
Some little advice: If you go to a screening and like an anime they screened, be sure to download it straight away, because it will mostly likely be licensed or become licensed in the next week or so. |

You can always cosplay as a Gundam.. like this:
On a more serious, yeah I'm going to Manifest I think. Since I don't do anything else (no other clubs, commitees). The only worry is that it's between week 9 and 10. I hope I don't have a million essays due in during that time (unlike semester one where there is too much to do for week 10). If there is I probably still won't miss it. I'll take care in the beginning of the semester to plan everything accordingly that I can get stuff due in done earlier. XD |

It's the first Saturday-Sunday of your mid-semester break. During when Melbourne show is on. So it's week 6-7.
So then Celine, no excuses.
CSee you at teh manifest~ |

??????
Manifest is from September 14 - 16 according to the website. On the Monash calender mid sem break for sem 2 is between September 24 - 28 (or like 22 - 30 including the weekends). That means we still have class during Manifest, no? And according to my calender 14 - 16 is the weekend between week 9 and 10. |

Okay, my apologies. Monash has been jibbed.
Melbourne uni gets two weeks off for their mid sem break 17th-30th - week 10/11
Monash uni on the other hand...
Have our mid sem break during Week 11 (wtf?)
Which means Manifest is on the end of week 9.
Usually it's in synch with our holidays.. i.e. week 11
Here's the thread about this on the Manifest forums.
zomg. I'm pissed. No time to make finalize costume. grrrrr

I want to know why our mid sem break is so damn late. I mean after week 10? What the crap. That's three quarters of the semester already. T.T
If only our mid sem was... a week earlier. |

I have no idea.
We have our mid sem, 2 weeks of classes, 1 week of revision and then exams...
It's a lot like having a mid sem this week. |

o...kay... so based on all the posts on dates of breaks and exams and what-not, as well as Chris's attached link to the MOC fofums, it's going to be tricky actually sparing time for Manifest?
...ah what the heck. It'll be fun going at any rate, especially with you guys =D
looking forward to it!! ---in jeans and winter coats T.T
btw Chris... so if we pre-register, we get goodies? |
